North Charleston City Gallery Presents Daryle Halbert, An Exhibit

The North Charleston City Gallery will host an exhibition of work by the City of North Charleston’s 2015/16 Artist-in-Residence, Daryle Halbert, throughout January 2016. Daryle, a member of the Charleston Artist Guild, has become very interested in the rich African American history and culture of the South Carolina and Georgia Lowcountry since relocating here in 2011. His most recent paintings depict scenes of Lowcountry cuisine, agriculture, music, and folklore. His exhibit Lowcountry Kitchens will feature works focused on the culinary symbols and traditions unique to the Gullah-Geechee culture. The public is invited to attend a free reception hosted by the artist on Thursday, January 7, from 5:00-7:00pm.

It’s hard to leave home sometimes—trust us, we know. But Ansley Commons in Ladson, South Carolina believes it is important to not only stay active in your community, but to also express curiosity about new subjects. This event is the perfect chance to spread your roots and learn new things!
